UAE Visa Assistance: Should You Apply Yourself or Use a Service?

UAE visa assistance is not one thing with one price. There are several official routes to a UAE visit visa, and the right one depends on how straightforward your case is, how much time you have, and how comfortable you are handling immigration paperwork. This page sets out each option honestly, including the situations where you should not pay anyone at all.

The Short Answer

You can apply for a UAE visit visa yourself through the official ICP Smart Services portal or GDRFA Dubai, or through an airline, hotel or licensed visa service. Applying yourself costs less. A licensed service costs more but checks your documents against your passport before submission, which matters most if you have been refused before or you are travelling soon.

The Official Routes, and Who Each One Suits

The UAE Government’s own platform, u.ae, states that you can apply for a tourist visa through airlines, hotels and travel agents. Using a third party is not a workaround. It is one of the routes the system is built around.

There are four in practice.

1. Directly through ICP or GDRFA

ICP Smart Services handles entry permits for Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. GDRFA Dubai handles visas issued through Dubai. Both let you apply online and both charge the government fee only, with no service fee on top.

This is the cheapest route and for many people it is the right one.

Apply direct if:

• You have applied for a UAE visa before and it was approved without problems
• Your passport is clean, valid for more than six months, and your details are straightforward
• You are not travelling for several weeks, so a rejection would not cost you a booking
• You are comfortable reading immigration requirements and preparing documents to specification
• You have a UAE resident, hotel or employer willing to act as your host where one is needed

If that describes you, use ICP or GDRFA and keep the difference. We would rather say so than take a fee for work you do not need.

2. Through the airline you are flying with

Emirates, Etihad and flydubai can arrange visas for passengers holding a confirmed booking with them. This is convenient if you have already booked, and the visa is tied to that airline’s flights.

Suits you if: you have already booked with one of those carriers and your itinerary is fixed.
Less useful if: you are flying another airline, your plans might change, or you want the visa before you commit to a ticket.

3. Through your hotel

Some UAE hotels will sponsor a visa for confirmed guests. It works, but it ties your visa to that booking and hotels usually require a longer, non-refundable stay.

4. Through a licensed visa service

A licensed service prepares and submits the application on your behalf, checks documents before submission, and tracks it through to a decision. You pay the government fee plus the service fee, in one amount.

Use a service if:

• You have been refused before. Reapplying without fixing the cause produces the same result. This is the single most common reason people come to us.
• You are travelling soon. A rejection on a self-submitted application can cost you a flight and a hotel, which is usually more than the service fee.
• Your nationality has extra conditions. Some passports require a security deposit, a minimum age, or additional documentation. Getting this wrong is the usual cause of refusal.
• You have no UAE host. No resident sponsor, no hotel booking yet, no employer in the country.
• You are applying for a family or group and want the applications aligned rather than submitted separately.
• Your documents are not clean. A name that appears differently across documents, a recently renewed passport, or a previous overstay.

That last row matters more than any other. No provider, ours included, approves visas. The decision belongs to UAE immigration in every case, and anyone offering a guaranteed approval is misrepresenting how the process works.

What It Costs Through govr.ae

Our prices are published before you apply, on the visa types and prices page. UAE visit visas start at $150 for the 96-hour transit visa and run to $390 for the 60-day multiple entry visa. Urgent processing adds $50 to any type.

Regular processing takes 1 to 3 working days. Urgent processing is completed within 36 hours on business days, and may take up to 48 hours if your application falls over a weekend.

Each price covers the government fee and our service fee together. For the 5-year multiple entry visa we publish the split in full, because the government portion is large and includes a refundable deposit: AED 1,100 service fee plus an AED 3,713.50 government fee applying from outside the UAE, of which AED 3,000 is a deposit returned after you exit. What the Service Fee Actually Buys

It is fair to ask what the difference covers, so here it is plainly:

• A document review before submission. Passport validity, photo specification, name consistency across documents, and the requirements specific to your nationality.
• Correct form completion. Most refusals come from data mismatches between the application and the passport rather than from anything about the traveller.
• Submission through official channels, with the file reference recorded.
• Tracking and updates through to the decision, instead of waiting without information.
• Someone to ask. Support in English and Arabic if something is unclear or the application is queried.

What it does not buy is influence over the outcome. It buys a correctly prepared application, which is a different thing and the only thing any provider can honestly offer.

How to Check Any Provider Before You Pay

This applies to us as much as anyone else.

• A licence number you can look up. Ours is 2528000.01, issued by Meydan Free Zone. A provider that will not give you one is a problem.
• A registered company name, not just a website. Ours is GOVR L.L.C F.Z.
• The price before you commit, not after you have uploaded your passport.
• Payment through a recognised gateway with a card statement you can dispute. Never a personal transfer, a messaging-app link or cryptocurrency.
• No guarantee of approval. Anyone promising one is not being honest with you.
• Independent reviews on a platform the provider does not control.

Once a visa is issued, it is also worth knowing how to check whether a UAE visa is genuine, because forged e-visas do circulate and the check takes a couple of minutes.

The Honest Summary

If your case is straightforward, you have time, and you are comfortable with the paperwork, apply directly through ICP or GDRFA and pay the government fee alone. That is the cheapest route and there is no reason to pay more for it.

If you have been refused before, you are travelling soon, your nationality carries extra conditions, or you simply do not want to risk getting the documents wrong, a licensed service is worth the difference. That is the situation we are built for.
